How does it help McCain (1.75 / 8)

to pick on a blogger who is helping McCain by attacking the Democratic nominee?

This person's MO is to hang any kind of ridiculous smear on Obama and does it in perfect Clintonista style by just providing enough plausible deniability to get away with it and drive everyone nuts.  Pure sleaze.

Saying 'Obama needs to cut him loose," is a plain effort to claim that Obama is somehow responsible for this character's words.  Obama who knew people would associate him with this so he stepped up immediately and condemned these words.

Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee.  Pretending he isn't as an excuse to attack him is cheap bullshit.  Lives depend on the Democrats taking back the White House and these people intentionally undermining the Democratic nominee because they're angry their candidate didn't win are freakin disgusting.  They don't represent Hillary's supporters, the vast majority of whom are good Democrats and want Obama to win the White House.

People will associate this with Obama (1.28 / 7)

For the reasons noted in the diary

1. Their long relationship of 20 years

  1. His presence on Obama's website and Obama's religious committee
  2. The members of the church that Obama was a member of for 20 years cheering and jeering on at the comments.

Obama needs to do more than cut him loose. He needs to cut loose his whole @&&! Church of Hate, or his campaign will devolve into a 1960's race riot... which created a 40-year Nixonian backlash we are just seeing the end of now... and the black man can't win in that atmosphere.

Oh come on (none / 0)

People here will rec a comment by someone who calls Obama's church a "@&&! Church of Hate" and states that the campaign of the presumptive Democratic nominee will devolve into a race riot and something about 'the black man' not being able to win in 'that' atmosphere.

That got rec'd.  Twice.

People use the word 'community' around here a lot but if there are more people rec'ing a comment like that than tr'ing it, I wonder, a community of what?

Re: Oh come on (none / 0)

That's not a troll?  Someone who calls Obama's church, a Church of Hate and claims that we're going to have race riots as the nominee because Obama is black?  Or something.  This was insane garbage with weird racial undertones.  It was the definition of troll garbage so why don't you save your 'fair and balanced' baloney?

Re: Oh come on (none / 0)

No, because they don't recognize the irony of using racial-baiting comments in response to a diary about rejecting hate....

Re: Oh come on (none / 0)

Well it looks like Obama has left his church. This was the correct move, IMO, even though some people will see it as political pandering. In any case, this, as well as his reiteration that the comments "totally conflict with my long-held views" closes the issue for me.
