As I've said many times this year, one of the highlights for this election season will be the hilarious Schadenfreude-Fest that will be the congressional race between John Yarmuth and Anne Northup. John Yarmuth is a shoe-in to win this race by double-digits, which will be Anne Northup's 3rd loss in two years, effectively ending her political viability for many years to come.

Thursday, Mitch McConnell spoke at the uber-right wing CPAC conference, where Ann Coulter regularly refers to people as "ragheads" and "faggots", to the delight and laughter of those in attendance.

ANDREW HORNE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR U.S. SENATE IN KENTUCKY
"I'm running for U.S. Senate because it's time for a change and because Senator Mitch McConnell is more than part of the problem. He is the problem," said Andrew Horne

Lt. Col. Andrew Horne, potential 2008 challenger to Senator Mitch McConnell, was kind enough to answer some questions that I had for him. The questions range from Iraq and veterans affairs, to civil liberties and torture. There is also a discussion of the performance of McConnell and the Democratic Congress, as well as his possible candidacy next year. If you like what you see, there is a petition to draft him into the race at DraftHorne.org. Here is the transcript:

A poll out today from the Herald-Leader makes it clear:
Kentuckians don't like Mitch McConnell, and he is VULNERABLE in 2008.
Just as the last two Survey USA polls have shown, Kentuckians are starting to sour on their Senior Senator. Mitch McConnell's approval rating has fallen to 45%, while his disapproval rating has risen to 46%, the first time that any poll has shown his disapprovals eclipsing approvals.

Yesterday we found that Mitch McConnell's poll numbers have tanked, with his disapproval jumping to 45%, an all-time high. Additionally, his numbers among women dropped from 49/39 to 44/46, and among moderates plunged even further, from 42/50 to 37/57.

As Media Matters has documented, on Rush Limbaugh's Jan. 24th program of this year, Senator Chuck Hagel, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, was a referred to as "Senator Betray Us".
Mitch McConnell denounced the recent MoveOn ad in The New York Times that ran with the headline "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?", calling it "outrageous", "unacceptable", and calling on Democrats and affiliated activist groups to denounce MoveOn.
So what will it be Mitch? Will you remain consistent in your criticism of those using "Betray Us" as a nickname for a decorated veteran in our armed forces? Will you publicly denounce Rush Limbaugh's program and call on fellow Republicans to do likewise and no longer appear on his show? Or will you simply choose to criticize those who oppose you?

The fleeting make-up session of Mitch McConnell and Gov. Ernie Fletcher, consummated at Fancy Farm this summer, has officially ended in bitter disappointment (as expected). Just as Mitch destroyed the first relationship by cheating on him with Rep. Anne Northrup, his wondering eye has drifted. To me. Your faithful blogmaster. Yes, instead of campaigning for Ernie, raising MUCH needed money in the final stretch of his pathetic campaign, Mitch has come calling for me. My wallet. Not for you Ernie, but for his already bloated war chest.
I just received this love letter in my inbox from Senator Mitch McConnell. Let me share it with you, dear reader. I've taken the liberty of decoding the hidden messages within, to me and all of his "contributors" (pimps).
